Twitch Clips

This is the hosted copy of the GRiMbot technical manual. Use the table of contents to open any page in the manual.

Twitch Clips

Open Overlays → Alerts & Clips → Twitch Clips. This is the default GRiMbar path. Organize GRiMbar can move the window.

Twitch Clips lists clips from the channel. You can mark favorites, inspect details, copy a Twitch address, create a clip while live, play a clip in GRiMbOS, or send it to the Walk-On & Clip Overlay.

Before you start

  • Authorize the broadcaster in System Status.
  • The broadcaster token needs clips:edit to create clips.
  • Add the Twitch Clip object to an overlay layout before using Play or Play on overlay.
  • Keep the overlay open in OBS if viewers should see playback.

Reading public clip details does not require clips:edit, but the current GRiMbot route still requires a configured broadcaster token and working Twitch API credentials.

Browse clips

  1. Choose Favorites, Past 24 hours, Past 7 days, Past 30 days, Past 365 days, or All time.
  2. Click a column heading to sort the loaded list.
  3. Click a clip title or thumbnail to open its detail window.
  4. Click the star to add or remove the clip from Favorites.
  5. Click Copy URL to copy the Twitch address.

The list loads up to 100 clips. It starts with the newest clip first.

Play a clip

Control What it does
Play Sends the clip to the Twitch Clip region of the Walk-On & Clip Overlay.
Play here Resolves a temporary playback address and plays the clip inside the detail window.
Open on Twitch Opens the public clip page in a new browser tab.
Play on overlay Sends the selected clip to the overlay from the detail window.
Customize Walk-On & Clip Overlay Opens the card settings for Twitch Clip playback.

Overlay playback uses the configured clip card duration. The overlay must contain the required Twitch Clip object.

Create a live clip

  1. Go live on Twitch.
  2. Open Twitch Clips.
  3. Click Create clip (live).
  4. Wait for Twitch to accept the request.
  5. Reload the window later if the new clip does not appear at once.

The create button appears only while GRiMbot reports the Stream Session as live. Twitch creates the clip from recent live video. This window does not provide a delay option or a clip editor.

Clip information

The list shows the clip title, creator, Twitch category, creation time, and views. The detail window can also show the Stream Session title and whether GRiMbot flagged the clip as a highlight.

Check the result

  • A selected star stays filled after the list reloads.
  • Favorites shows only starred clips.
  • Copied appears briefly after a successful copy.
  • Play here starts video in the detail window.
  • Play sends the clip card to the active overlay.
  • A newly created clip appears on Twitch after Twitch finishes processing it.

If something fails

  • Re-authorize the broadcaster in System → System Status if clip creation is denied.
  • Confirm that the stream is live if Create clip (live) is missing.
  • Check Connection Status and the OBS browser source if overlay playback is not visible.
  • Open Overlay Browser and confirm that the active layout contains the Twitch Clip object.
  • Try Open on Twitch if GRiMbOS cannot resolve the temporary playback address.
  • A deleted or unavailable Twitch clip cannot be loaded or played.

Limits

  • Each list request returns at most 100 clips.
  • Favorites are stored by GRiMbot, not by Twitch.
  • The period filters apply to clip creation time.
  • Copying an address depends on browser clipboard permission.
