Third-party requirements

You need a Spotify Premium account. Free Spotify cannot be controlled from GRiMbot.

The Spotify app must be open on a phone or PC with something already playing. A sleeping device ignores commands.

Spotify Developer credentials are used when Spotify Settings asks you to Authorize. GRiMbOS shows a loopback redirect such as http://127.0.0.1:8888/callback. That address must be on the Spotify app's redirect list.

What it does

Viewers queue tracks with !sr followed by a title, artist, Spotify link, or YouTube link. Tracks go into a Song Requests playlist you pick. They are not added to Liked Songs.

!song and !songlink report what is playing. !addsong adds the current track to the Song Requests playlist.

Playback commands !volume, !skip, !pause, !play, and !playlist are meant for moderators or a DJ Group. Set audiences in Spotify Commands.

The first Authorize walks your library to build a search catalog. Until that finishes, !sr may say it is still building. That pass happens once.

GRiMbOS windows

Spotify Settings holds Authorize, Market, Song Requests playlist, and DJ group. Market is your country. The wrong country returns tracks that will not play.

Spotify Commands sets who may use each command.

Unassigned Playlists and Member Playlists assign a playlist to a viewer for !playlist.

Spotify Messages is every chat reply. Stand-ins include {track}, {artist}, and {user}.

Song Request Archive is history.

Overlay Settings styles the now-playing card. Add Spotify Now Playing in Overlay Browser.

Actions on buttons and redemptions

Play Song URL requires a track link. Playback jumps to that track and then continues the queue. Play Playlist starts shuffled from a random first track. Pause Spotify, Unpause Spotify, and Set Spotify Volume use 0 to 100. These actions do not post in chat. They do not add to the Song Requests playlist.

Common failures

Typical causes are the wrong Market, a sleeping device, a free-tier account, no playlist selected, or a revoked token. Authorize again if Spotify revoked the token.
