Button Box

Button Box

Open Media → Tools → Button Box. Organize GRiMbar can move the window.

Button Box builds a web page of large buttons. Open that page on a phone, tablet, or second PC and tap to run GRiMbot Action Chains.

A box is not an OBS Browser Source. Do not paste the box address into Overlay Browser or OBS.

Before you start

  • GRiMbot is running on the machine that will serve the box URL.
  • The pad device can reach that machine on the LAN if you are not on localhost.
  • Install plugins required by OBS, Spotify, TTS, or AI actions.

Build a box

  1. Enter a Name and click Create box.
  2. Under the Preview, set Columns and Rows. A phone held upright usually works with 3 columns. A tablet on its side usually works with 4 or 5.
  3. Click a square in the Preview.
  4. On Appearance, set Button text, colors, and an optional icon. Save button also creates a Button Preset.
  5. On Actions, click Add action…, fill Settings, and click Save action.
  6. Set Run Actions to In order or All at once.
  7. Tick Confirm Press if a stray tap would be expensive.
  8. Set Cooldown in seconds. Extra taps during Cooldown do nothing and show no message.
  9. Return to the list. Tick Turned on. Click Copy address.
  10. Open that address on the device.

A successful press shows no confirmation toast. Errors and Confirm Press appear as a card over the buttons.

Safety

Anyone on your network who has the address can press the buttons. There is no password. Turn boxes off when you are not using them.

Address name is the last part of the URL, such as /box/main. Changing the display Name does not change the address.

Button Preset

A Button Preset is a saved button definition. Appearance, actions, and press settings travel with it. Apply puts a Button Preset on a cell. Updating a Button Preset updates every cell that uses it.

Playback notes

Sound clips on the Sounds overlay start immediately and may overlap. Video and GIF clips still take turns.

OBS and Spotify actions need those plugins. AI Bot Response is marked destructive. Confirm Press is recommended. The reply draws on Bot Overlay when that overlay is enabled for Button Box.
