Connection Status
Connection Status checks whether the services GRiMbot talks to are connected now. It groups checks for Twitch, overlays, integrations, plugins, and other registered providers.
Open it in either way:
- Click GRiMbar > System > Connection Status.
- Click the networking icon beside the taskbar clock.
The window refreshes every three seconds. Click Refresh to run the check immediately.
Connection Status reports live connections. System Status checks Twitch authorization, handles missing permissions, can re-register EventSub subscriptions, and shows raw health details.
Read the summary
The toolbar reports the connected count and total count.
| Summary | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Everything is connected | Every returned check is connected. |
| Something needs attention | At least one returned check is not connected. |
| Loading… | The first check has not finished. |
| Error dialog | GRiMbOS could not load the connection report. |
Each row has a status lamp:
| Lamp | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | The source-specific check reports that the item is connected. |
| Red | The source-specific check reports that the item is not connected. |
The detail line explains what the check found. The exact groups and rows depend on Core, registered overlay surfaces, and installed plugins.
Core checks
The Twitch group includes:
| Row | Connected condition | Repair window |
|---|---|---|
| Twitch Bot Account | The bot authorization is configured, valid, and has all required permissions. | System Status |
| Twitch Broadcaster Account | The broadcaster authorization is configured, valid, and has all required permissions. | System Status |
| Twitch Chat (IRC) | The bot reports that it is connected to Twitch Chat. | System Status |
The Overlays group has one row for each registered overlay surface. An overlay row is connected when at least one browser source currently has a WebSocket connection for that surface. Its detail can show the number of connected browser sources and subscribed topics.
Installed plugins can add their own groups and checks. A failed plugin status provider appears in the Plugins group with Status check failed.
Repair a failed row
- Find a red row.
- Read its detail line.
- Click Fix… when the button is present.
- Complete the setup or repair in the window that opens.
- Return to Connection Status.
- Click Refresh, or wait for the next three-second check.
- Confirm that the row turns green.
Fix… opens the window named by that connection check. Core Twitch checks open System Status. Core overlay checks open Overlay Browser. A plugin check can name a plugin window, but plugins do not have to provide one.
Not every failed row has a repair window. When Fix… is absent, use the detail line and the manual for that service or plugin.
Taskbar indicator
The networking icon polls the same Connection Status report about every 1.5 seconds.
- Its tooltip shows the connected count.
- Its warning appearance means not all checks are connected.
- The tooltip reads Connection Status unavailable when the report cannot be loaded.
- The monitor lights flash when GRiMbOS receives recorded connection activity.
Clicking the indicator opens the single Connection Status window.
Verification checklist
Before a stream, confirm:
- [ ] The connected count equals the total count.
- [ ] Both Twitch account rows are green.
- [ ] Twitch Chat is green.
- [ ] Every OBS browser source needed for the stream has a green overlay row.
- [ ] Each integration needed for the stream is green.
An unused overlay can remain red when its OBS browser source is not open. Connection Status reports presence. It does not decide whether that source is required for the current stream.
Failure handling
| Problem | Action |
|---|---|
| Twitch account row is red | Click Fix…, then re-authorize the account in System Status. |
| Twitch Chat is red | Open System Status from Fix…. Confirm the bot account is authorized, then check the connection again. |
| Overlay row is red | Click Fix… to open Overlay Browser. Confirm that the matching OBS browser source uses the current overlay address and is active. |
| Integration row is red | Click Fix… when available and use the window it opens. |
| Plugin row says Status check failed | Click Fix… when present. A failed plugin status provider points to Add/Remove Plugins. Confirm the plugin is installed, then consult that plugin's manual. |
| Connection report cannot load | Restore access to GRiMbot, then click Refresh. The window cannot diagnose a service it cannot reach. |
Boundaries
A green lamp reports only the condition implemented by that row's provider. It is not an end-to-end test of every feature.
Connection Status does not change authorization, restart integrations, or reconnect OBS sources by itself. It opens a repair window only when the row supplies one.
