Emotes

This is the hosted copy of the GRiMbot technical manual. Use the table of contents to open any page in the manual.

Emotes

Open Community > Audience > Emotes to list channel emotes and their recorded use in Chat Messages.

Sync the catalog

Click Sync catalog after adding, renaming, or removing channel emotes on Twitch. GRiMbot fetches the current channel emote catalog and stores each emote name, image, type, and tier.

Catalog sync uses the configured Twitch application and channel. It does not require a broadcaster OAuth scope. It does require a valid Twitch application setup and a channel that Twitch can resolve.

Counting boundary: GRiMbot counts only emote IDs already known in its channel emote catalog. Sync the catalog before relying on new emote counts.

Read usage

Choose one of the period buttons:

Period Count shown
24 hours Recorded uses on dates inside the last 24-hour period.
7 days Recorded uses during the last 7-day period.
30 days Recorded uses during the last 30-day period.
365 days Recorded uses during the last 365-day period.
All The stored lifetime total.

Each card shows the emote name, image when available, and number of recorded uses. Repeated copies of an emote in one Chat Message count separately.

The page tracks channel emotes found in incoming Twitch chat metadata. It does not count arbitrary text that happens to match an emote name.

Verify and troubleshoot

  1. Click Sync catalog.
  2. Confirm the expected channel emotes appear.
  3. Send a Chat Message containing one of those emotes.
  4. Refresh the page and select a period that includes the message.

If the catalog is empty, check Twitch application setup and the configured channel in System > SETUP BOT. If catalog entries appear but use counts do not change, check the chat connection in System > Connection Status. A sync refreshes the catalog. It does not rebuild past usage that arrived before an emote was known.
