Bot Messages

Bot → Chat → Bot Messages posts saved or AI-written chat lines during a live Stream Session.

Default state

Post while live is off by default. The supplied Stream tips set is also off. Its trigger is Whichever first, with a fixed 600-second timer and 75 Chat Messages.

A newly added set starts enabled with these settings:

Setting Default
When to post Whichever first
Timer 300 seconds
Random wait Off
Random wait range 180 to 600 seconds
Chat Message count 50
Random count Off
Random count range 30 to 80 Chat Messages
Random message pool On
Game specific messages Off
AI lines Off
AI chance 25 percent

Create a message set

  1. Click Add message set.
  2. Enter a name and leave Enabled on.
  3. Open Messages.
  4. Type a line and press Enter or click Add line.
  5. Open Trigger and choose Timer, Chat, or Whichever first.
  6. Turn on Post while live.
  7. Click Test.
  8. Confirm that the bot posts the line in chat.

Edits save automatically after about 450 milliseconds.

Trigger rules and limits

Control Rule
Timer Fires after the saved number of seconds. Minimum 30. Maximum 86,400.
Random wait Picks an inclusive random wait between the two saved values after each successful post.
Chat Counts eligible incoming Chat Messages. Minimum 5. Maximum 10,000.
Random count Picks an inclusive random target between the two values after each successful post.
Whichever first Posts when either the timer or Chat Message target is reached, then resets both.
Game specific messages Posts only when the live Twitch category ID matches the selected category.

Timer and Chat Message counters reset when the Stream Session changes. The first timer period starts when the runtime begins tracking the schedule. A failed post does not reset the trigger.

The counter advances for every incoming Chat Message that reaches GRiMbot after its exclusion check. Broadcaster Chat Messages and command Chat Messages count. Echoed lines from the bot do not count. Accounts on GRiMbot's excluded-account list do not count.

Message pool

Each line may contain up to 450 characters. Empty lines are discarded. A set with no pool lines and no working AI line does not post.

With Random on, weights range from 1x to 5x. A higher weight increases the chance of selection. With at least two different lines, GRiMbot avoids repeating the same line back to back.

With Random off, lines post in list order and loop to the top. Use the arrow buttons to change that order.

Pool lines are literal text. They do not replace {user} or other viewer stand-ins.

AI lines

AI lines require AI Integration. AI chance ranges from 0 to 100 percent. At 0 percent, AI is never requested. If the pool is empty and AI is enabled with a chance above 0, GRiMbot requests AI whenever the set fires.

Prompt hint accepts up to 500 characters. Custom Counter keys in the hint can supply stream values. If AI is missing, fails, or returns no text, GRiMbot uses a pool line. If no pool line exists, the set skips the post.

Test and failure checks

Test saves pending edits and composes one line immediately. It ignores live status and the game-category filter, but the bot must be connected to a channel.

  • If nothing posts, check Post while live, the set's Enabled switch, and the message pool.
  • If the set says it is waiting for a category, select the correct Twitch category.
  • If AI is unavailable, add at least one pool line.
  • If Test reports that the bot is not connected, restore the chat connection before retrying.
  • Settings remain on disk until changed. Runtime counters last only for the running process and current Stream Session.
