Groups

System → Groups manages Twitch role lists and custom groups used by GRiMbOS permissions.

Group types

Group Source Changes
Moderators Twitch Adding or removing a member changes the channel's Twitch moderators.
VIPs Twitch Adding or removing a member changes the channel's Twitch VIPs.
Banned Twitch Adding or removing a member bans or unbans that Twitch user.
Custom groups GRiMbOS Members stay in GRiMbOS until you remove them.

The broadcaster account must be authorized for Twitch role and ban changes. If the broadcaster token is missing, the three Twitch lists load as empty. Adding or removing a Twitch member reports an error when authorization is missing, the Twitch user cannot be found, or Twitch rejects the change.

Create a custom group

  1. Enter a unique name in New group name.
  2. Click Add group.
  3. Click Add member.
  4. Search for a viewer and add them.
  5. Click Save changes.
  6. Reopen the group and confirm that the member appears.

Custom group names become lowercase IDs. Spaces and unsupported characters become hyphens. IDs may contain lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores, up to 64 characters. GRiMbOS refuses an empty or duplicate ID.

Change a Twitch group

  1. Select Moderators, VIPs, or Banned.
  2. Click Add member and choose a Twitch user.
  3. Confirm that the user appears in the list.
  4. To remove a user, click the remove button beside their name.

Twitch changes take effect when the request succeeds. Custom group edits stay local until you click Save changes.

Where groups are used

Custom groups can appear in permission controls for Core Commands, Custom Commands, Spotify DJ access, excluded-group settings, and other features that accept a group. Removing a member stops future permission checks from matching that member.

Failure checks

  • If every Twitch list is empty, check the broadcaster authorization in System → System Status. Missing authorization does not produce a list-loading error.
  • If an add or remove action fails, read the reported error. Mutation errors are separate from an empty list response.
  • If one user cannot be added, confirm the Twitch login and try the search again.
  • If a custom member disappears after reopening Groups, the changes were not saved.
  • GRiMbOS stores custom groups on disk. It does not set an automatic expiry or retention period.
