Failed Update Recovery

Use this page when a Core or plugin update leaves GRiMbot unable to start, GRiMbOS blank, or plugins refusing to load.

Isolate the failure

Symptom Likely area First check
Process will not start Core files or .env Logs next to the launcher. Confirm .env was not replaced.
GRiMbOS loads, windows missing Frontend build or plugin registry About version. Plugin list in Add/Remove Plugins.
One plugin fails That zip vs Core version Plugin page and Logs and Diagnostics.
Twitch disconnected after update Token or EventSub System Status, then Re-register events.

Recover Core

  1. Stop GRiMbot.
  2. Confirm data/ and .env still exist and were not overwritten.
  3. Reinstall the previous Core package into the same folder.
  4. Start GRiMbot.
  5. Confirm GRiMbOS and Connection Status.
  6. Keep the failed package for notes. Do not retry it until Release notes are understood.

If data/ was overwritten, Restore from the Back Up taken before the update.

Recover a plugin

  1. Note the zip name and version.
  2. Uninstall that plugin in Add/Remove Plugins if GRiMbOS still opens.
  3. Restart when asked.
  4. Install the last known working zip.
  5. If GRiMbOS will not open, stop GRiMbot and restore data/plugins/installed/ from the Back Up.
