Restore

This is the hosted copy of the GRiMbot technical manual. Use the table of contents to open any page in the manual.

Restore

Restore replaces a damaged or replaced install with files from a verified Back Up. Work on a copy of the Back Up, not the only copy.

Prerequisites

  • A Back Up that includes .env and data/.
  • The same major GRiMbot package family as the Back Up when possible.
  • The operator can stop GRiMbot.

Procedure

  1. Stop GRiMbot.
  2. Install or extract Core into the intended folder if the program files are missing.
  3. Restore .env into that folder.
  4. Restore the data/ directory so data/grimbot.db and media sit in the same relative places.
  5. Do not start GRiMbot until the restored .env and database are in place.
  6. Start GRiMbot.
  7. Sign in to GRiMbOS.
  8. Open System Status and Connection Status.
  9. Confirm Twitch Chat, overlays, and required plugins.

After Restore

Re-authorize Twitch only if System Status reports invalid tokens. Tokens in .env from the Back Up should still work if Twitch has not revoked them.

If Restore is onto a new machine, update any LAN URLs you stored for the PC Agent (GRIMBOT_AGENT_URL). Do not publish those addresses.
