Variables
All events have {display_name}, {login}, and {twitch_user_id}. Event-specific variables include:
| Event | Variables |
|---|---|
| Follow | {follower_number} |
| Subscribe | {tier}, {subscriber_number} |
| Resub | {tier}, {cumulative_months}, {streak_months}, {message} |
| Watch streak | {streak_count}, {channel_points_awarded}, {message} |
| Gift subs | {total}, {tier} |
| Cheer | {bits}, {message} |
| Raid | {viewers} |
| Channel point redemption | {reward_title}, {cost}, {user_input} |
| First Chat Message | {message}, {first_word} |
Follower Number and Subscriber Number include the event currently being handled. Variables may be used in card templates and supported Action fields.
Range media
Range media is available for cheers, gifted subscriptions, resubs, and watch streaks. It matches bits, gift count, streak months, or watch streak count. A resub falls back to cumulative months when streak months are missing.
Rules run in displayed order. The first matching rule wins. Use the same Min and Max for one exact value. A Max value of 0 means no upper limit in the editor. Each rule needs at least one clip. Values must be between 1 and 1,000,000.
When a range matches, its clip bundle replaces the fallback Actions. When no range matches, the configured Actions run.
Twitch permissions
The broadcaster authorization needs:
moderator:read:followersfor follows.channel:read:subscriptionsfor subscription events and Subscriber Number.bits:readfor cheers.channel:read:redemptionsfor Channel point redemption events.
Watch streak notifications use user:read:chat for the chat identity. Raid delivery does not add a separate OAuth scope in the current scope catalog.
After granting missing permissions, open System > System Status and click Re-subscribe EventSub.
Preview and verification
- Save the Event Alert settings.
- Keep the OBS scene and Event Alerts object visible.
- Click Preview on the event tab.
- For range media, enter a test value that matches the intended rule.
- Check the card, Actions, media, TTS, chat output, and OBS audio as applicable.
Preview boundary: Preview calls the Event Alert dispatcher with sample variables. It observes Enabled and Cooldown, follows Show Card, starts configured Actions, and starts matching range media. It does not create a Twitch EventSub notification or prove Twitch delivery.
Use Event Emulator when you need to exercise GRiMbot's EventSub handler path. Use a real Twitch event to verify authorization, subscription status, transport, and delivery from Twitch.
If a live alert fails, confirm Enabled, Cooldown, the Event Alerts layout object, the Twitch authorization scopes, and EventSub subscription status. If the card works but an Action fails, test that Action's integration separately and read the displayed or service error.
