Polls & Predictions

Open Community → Rewards & Polls → Polls & Predictions. This is the default GRiMbar path. Organize GRiMbar can move the window.

This window creates Twitch polls and predictions and lists the active ones.

Before you start

  • Authorize the broadcaster in System Status.
  • Poll reading needs channel:read:polls.
  • Poll creation and ending need channel:manage:polls.
  • Prediction reading needs channel:read:predictions.
  • Prediction creation and resolution need channel:manage:predictions.
  • The channel must meet Twitch's requirements for the selected feature.

Create a poll

  1. Choose Poll.
  2. Enter the Title.
  3. Enter Option A and Option B.
  4. Enter the Duration (sec).
  5. Click Create.
  6. Confirm that the poll appears under Active polls and on Twitch.

The poll duration field works for polls. End poll does not work in the current source. The button sends no request body, but the API requires one. The request fails without ending the poll.

Create a prediction

  1. Choose Prediction.
  2. Enter the Title.
  3. Enter the two outcomes in Option A and Option B.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Confirm that the prediction appears under Active predictions and on Twitch.

The Duration (sec) field does not control predictions in the current source. The form sends duration_seconds, but the prediction API reads prediction_window_seconds. The API therefore uses its default of 120 seconds for every prediction created here.

End prediction also does not work. The window selects the outcome with the highest user count and sends its ID, but it omits the required status. The API rejects the request. No outcome is resolved and no channel points are paid out.

Controls and limits

Control What it does Limit
Type selector Chooses Poll or Prediction. One active creation form.
Title Sets the Twitch question. Poll maximum 60 characters. Prediction maximum 45.
Option A and Option B Set the choices or outcomes. Both are required by the API. The window supports exactly two.
Duration (sec) Sets the poll duration. The current prediction request ignores it. Poll 15 through 1,800 seconds. The field starts at 300. Predictions created here use 120 seconds.
Create Sends the new poll or prediction to Twitch. Disabled until Title has text.
End poll Sends an invalid request with no required body. Always fails in the current source.
End prediction Selects the outcome with the most users, then sends an invalid request with no required status. Always fails in the current source. No manual winner choice is available.

The active poll list shows votes for each choice. The active prediction list shows users and channel points for each outcome. The list also includes locked predictions.

The API supports two through five poll choices, but this window supplies only two. Channel point voting for polls is disabled by this window.

Check the result

  • The new item appears in the matching active list.
  • Twitch shows the poll Title, options, and selected poll duration.
  • Twitch shows a 120-second entry period for a prediction created here.
  • Vote or outcome totals update after the window reloads.

Do not use either end button to verify a result. Both buttons fail before Twitch changes the active item.

If something fails

  • Re-authorize the broadcaster in System → System Status if Twitch denies the request.
  • Check the Title length, both option fields, and poll duration limits when creation fails.
  • Twitch permits only one active poll and one active prediction per channel.
  • Use Twitch's Creator Dashboard to end a poll or resolve a prediction.
  • Refresh by closing and reopening the window if Twitch state changed elsewhere.

Current source limitation. Both end buttons always fail because their requests omit required body fields. Predictions created here always use the API default of 120 seconds because the form sends the wrong duration field name.
